What Exactly Is an ELD and Why Do We Need It?

An ELD – also known as Electronic Logging Device – is an electronic hardware that attaches to the engine of a commercial motor vehicle for the sole purpose of recording driving hours.

Previously, paper logs or automatic onboard recording devices (AOBRD) were used for HOS tracking. Due to the inconsistent data left for enforcement personnel to review created the ELD mandate of December 2017.

In an effort to improve the safety and accuracy for commercial motor vehicles, the FMCSA mandated that all truckers – solo and fleet drivers – be compliant by having an ELD – electronic logging device – attached to every truck heading on the road.

Although, you are not required to use test procedures, FMCSA intends to use specific procedures to confirm compliance of an ELD if validation are needed or desired. The development of a training manual – per service contract – will ensure that all ELDs are tested using the same procedures, as well as a verification process which will ensure sufficient results to evaluate ELDs properly.

Ezlogz Equals Ez-life

On December 2015, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) published the final electronic logging device rule — or ELD Mandate – for every trucking company to be compliant by December 2017.

Ezlogz Inc, a superior All-in-One platform, are happy to present customers with an easy-to-use application connecting the logistics industry, and beyond.

For most people, the question is always “why?.” Why would I need all these extra features when I only care about staying compliant.

What you should really be asking yourself is “why not?”

Simplifying and not being tied into a long term contract would be the obvious option for anyone, keeping your revenue unaffected, but lowering costs of staying compliant, and thus end up with more profit, instead of trying other ELD companies that have unknown outcomes.

If there was a way to significantly save on time and money, to save on ELD costs, wouldn’t you be interested in a solution like that?

With 24/7 customer service and an excellent team of technical and support specialists ready at hand, you could start your suave journey on any road, anytime.
